Artyom Wasnetsov

Artyom Wasnetsov

Artyom Wasnetsov was born in Samara, Russia, in 1992 and first studied at the College of Architecture before beginning his vocal training at the Shatalov College of Music in Samara. Since 2016 he has studied at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin with Michail Lanskoi.

He gained his first stage experience as a soloist at the State Opera House in Samara. He made his debut in Germany in 2018 as the Hermit in Weber's Der Freischütz at the Volkstheater in Rostock. In the 2019/20 season, Artyom Wasnetsov sang in a concert production of Strauss's Die Frau ohne Schatten with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin under the direction of Vladimir Jurowski at the Berlin Philharmonie and at the Enescu Festival in Bucharest. He also made his debut as Sparafucile in Verdi's Rigoletto at the Mecklenburg State Theatre in Schwerin and as Gremin in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin at the Volkstheater Rostock. From 2020 to 2022, he was a member of the Vienna State Opera's opera studio, where he appeared as Titurel in Parsifal, The Bonze in Madama Butterfly, 5th Jew in Salome, 1. Handwerksbursch in Wozzeck, Le Duc in Roméo et Juliette, Lodovico in Otello, Pistola in Falstaff, Geronte de Ravoir in Manon Lescaut, Sparafucile in Rigoletto, Pimen in Boris Godunov, Fasolt in Das Rheingold and took part in children's productions as Don Basilio in Der mit Barber, Osmin in Die Entführung and Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte.

In the 2022/23 season Artyom Wasnetsov made his debut as Colas in Bastien und Bastienne as part of the HERBSTGOLD Festival in Eisenstadt and appeared as Samuel in Un ballo in maschera in Klagenfurt, Monterone in Rigoletto and Un torturato in Intolleranza 1960 in Basel.

His engagements in 2023/24 include Gremin in Eugene Onegin at the Royal Opera in Copenhagen, Hunding in Die Walküre in Basel, and Fafner in Rheingold in Dortmund.
