Dominick Chenes
In the 2024/25 season, Dominick Chenes will make his house debut as Pollione in Vincenzo Bellini's Norma at the Leipzig Opera, sing Cavaradossi in Giacomo Puccini's Tosca at the New Orleans Opera, Turiddu in Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana at the Opera Orlando, Erik in Richard Wagner's The Flying Dutchman at the Opera in the Quarry and returns as Greenhorn in Jake Heggie's Moby-Dick (cover) to the Metropolitan Opera.
Future engagements include a return to the Lyric Opera of Chicago as Giasone in Luigi Cherubini's Medea (cover). In the 2023/24 season he sang Pinkerton in Puccini's Madama Butterfly at Boston Lyric Opera, Pollione with the Boston Youth Symphony, the title role in Jacques Offenbach's Les contes d' Hoffmann at Palm Beach Opera and Nicias in Jules Massenet's Thaïs at Utah Opera.
Dominick Chenes' recent engagements include Cavaradossi in Tosca at the Metropolitan Opera (cover), his role debut as Canio in Ruggero Leoncavallo's Pagliacci with the Sacramento Philharmonic, a return to the Seattle Opera for Alfredo in Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata, a return to the Lyric Opera of Chicago for the title role in Don Carlos (cover), Pollione in Musica Viva Hong Kong, Verdi's Messa da Requiem with the Reading Symphony and Don José in Georges Bizet's Carmen at the Palm Beach Opera.
Dominick Chenes has sung Pinkerton at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, the Seattle Opera, the Austin Lyric Opera and the Lyric Opera of Chicago (cover), Alfredo at the Tokyo New National Theater and the Pa Skaret Opera Festival in Sweden, Cavaradossi at the Seattle Opera, the Reading Symphony, the Minnesota Opera, the San Francisco Opera (cover) and the Lyric Opera of Chicago (cover), Don José at the Utah Opera and the Las Vegas Opera, Turiddu at the New Orleans Opera, Carlo in Verdi's I Masnadieri under the direction of Roberto Abbado at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, Adoniran in Karl Goldmark's La Reine de Saba at the Odyssey Opera, Riccardo in Verdi's Un ballo in maschera at the Austin Lyric Opera. He made his debut at the Grand Theater de Genevre as Iopas in Hector Berlioz's Les Troyens under Charles Dutoit and sang Rodolfo in La Bohème at Opera Colorado, Musica Viva Hong Kong and the Welsh National Opera.
Dominick Chenes received second prize from the Gerda Lissner Foundation, third prize from the Mario Lanza Competition and a scholarship from the Licia Albanese Puccini Foundation. He was also a finalist at the Meistersinger competition in Graz
