Ekaterina Sannikova
Born in Ternopil (Ukraine), soprano Ekaterina Sannikova trained both as an actress and an opera singer and is a graduate of the Tver Music College and the St Petersburg Conservatory. In summer 2018, Ekaterina made her Mariinsky debut as Fiordiligi in Mozart's Così fan tutte, the title role in Tchaikovsky's Iolanta and as Mimi in Puccini's La Bohème on the legendary Mariinsky stage.
She appeared in the title role of Vera Sheloga (première 2019) and as Olga in the double bill of Vera Sheloga / The Girl from Pskov by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. She also performed at the 'Stars of the White Nights' festival as 1st Soprano in Mahler's 8th Symphony with the Mariinsky Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev, as Nedda in I Pagliacci and Clara in Prokofiev's Betrothal in a Monastery.
From 2017 to 2021, Ekaterina was a member of the Atkins Young Artists Programme at the Mariinsky. In October 2018, she took part in the programme's first US tour and a concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, California (with the Colburn Orchestra, conducted by Valery Gergiev).
In the 2020/2021 season, Ekaterina performed in Mariinsky premieres of Rimsky-Korsakov's operas Snowflake (as Kupava) and The Night Before Christmas (as Oxana) under the baton of Valery Gergiev. Also this season, she made her debut in the title role of Ariadne / Primadonna in Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos and appeared at the 'Stars of the White Nights' festival in the title role of Jeanne d'Arc in the Mariinsky's new production of The Maid of Orleans by P. Tchaikovsky. In February 2021 she made her debut as Lisa in Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades at the Astrakhan Opera House.
Her European engagements include her ongoing collaboration with the Operosa Montenegro Opera Festival in Herceg Novi and special guest appearances at the 2017/18 season opening of L'Opera Nice Cote d'Azur and the Montecantini Opera Festival in Montecantini Terme in 2017.
Her other repertoire includes the roles of Floria Tosca (Tosca), Desdemona (Otello), Amelia (Un ballo in maschera), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Marguerite (Faust by Gounod), Tatyana (Eugene Onegin), Lisa (Pique Dame), Eva (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Micaela (Carmen by Bizet) and several characteristic female roles in operas by N. Rimsky-Korsakov: Volkhova in Sadko and Voyslava in Mlada.
She is the winner of the Monte-Carlo Voice Masters 2022 and winner of the CulturArte Prize at the Operalia World Opera Competition 2021.

Ekaterina Sannikova was already heard in 2022 as Abigaille in Nabucco at the Opera in the Quarry.
