Ivan Zinoviev
Ivan Zinoviev was born in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, Russia. He appeared in public singing competitions at the age of 7 and by the age of 8 performed regularly as a soloist in the children's choir of the Krasnoyarsk State Opera Theatre.
In 2009 he completed his vocal studies at the Gnesins State Academy of Music in Moscow with honours and from 2010 pursued a master's degree with Yuli Khomenko at the Music and Arts Private University of the City of Vienna. In addition to his studies, he has made numerous solo appearances in various opera productions, including at several festivals in Austria, but also at 1CCTV in Beijing, China, Tel Aviv, Israel, and in Cape Town, South Africa.
He has been a member of the Junges Ensemble of the Theater an der Wien (JET), where he has appeared in Strauss's Salome, Leoncavallo's Zazà and Lortzing's Der Waffenschmied, and as the Grand Inquisiteur in Verdi's Don Carlo, Olivier in Picker's Thérèse Raquin and Don Basilio in Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia. His other roles include Osmin, Sarastro, Leporello, Figaro (all Mozart) and Ferrando in Verdi's Il trovatore.
Ivan is an active participant in workshops with mentors such as Professor Dmitriy Vdovin at the Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow and with Placido Domingo. Ivan is currently perfecting his studies with Maestro Kammersänger Professor Jewgenij Nesterenko in Vienna.
He has previously appeared at Opera im Steinbruch in 2023 as Moralès in Bizet’s Carmen.
