Johanna Will

The German soprano Johanna Will initially completed her bachelor's degree at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre.

A full scholarship from the Mannes School of Music then allowed her to study for a master's degree in New York City, where she earned her Professional Studies Diploma in Voice and completed her academic training in summer 2022. She had previously been the youngest participant to receive the Rolex scholarship for the Georg Solti International Accademia di Belcanto, where she was able to work with Angela Gheorghiu, Richard Bonynge and Dennis O'Neill, among others. In 2020/21 Johanna Will was selected for the San Francisco Opera's renowned Merola Opera Program. She also took part in various training programs, such as the Ravinia Festival, the Glimmerglass Festival and the Music Academy of the West.
Her roles include, among others, roles in operas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart such as Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro, First Lady in The Magic Flute and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Mimì in Giacomo Puccini's La bohème, Tatjana in Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, the witch in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel and the title role in Puccini's Suor Angelica.
Johanna Will performs internationally as a soloist and most recently sang with the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Poland under the direction of Marin Alsop, at the season-closing concert at the Granada Theatre under Speranza Scappucci as well as with the Philharmonic Orchestra of the City of Heidelberg and with the Santa Barbara Symphony. Last summer she opened the Viennese Opera Ball in New York City and performed at the International Opera Festival in Albania with the Tirana Symphony Orchestra. She concluded the year with a concert tour of China with the Ningbo Symphony Orchestra.
The highlights of 2025 include her debut at the Stuttgart State Opera in Richard Wagner's Parsifal and the role of Senta in Wagner's The Flying Dutchman in St. Margarethen. Among other things, an engagement as Elsa in Wagner's Lohengrin is planned for 2026.
Johanna Will has received numerous scholarships and is a winner of international competitions in Europe, the USA and Asia.
