Quentin Hindley

Quentin Hindley belongs to the emerging generation of young French conductors.

The graduate of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (viola, music theory, orchestration and conducting) has learned from teachers such as Jean-Marc Cochereau, Pierre Boulez, Paavo and Neeme Järvi, Susanna Mälkki, Jorma Panula, Michail Jurowski, Leonard Slatkin and Sir Simon Rattle, whose assistant he was at the Festival of Aix-en-Provence.
In March 2021, he made his debut with the Orchestre de Paris with three projects, including Ludwig van Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, which was broadcast at the 37th Shanghai Spring International Music Festival. He also collaborated with violinist Alexandra Conunova and the London Symphony Orchestra on a recording at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London.
In addition to his engagements in Paris, Quentin Hindley regularly conducts in France at the Opéra de Lille and the Opéra de Nancy, among others, and conducts the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, the Orchestre de Bretagne, the Orchestre national de Lyon and the Orchestre des Pays de la Loire. Outside his home country, he has worked with, among others, the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, the Orquestra Gulbenkian Lisbon, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra Dublin, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, the Ljubljana Academy Orchestra and the Miskolc Symphony Orchestra in Hungary.
At the Dance Biennale in Lyon he conducted, among other things, the local opera orchestra in Jiří Kylián's Heart's Labyrinth. His work on Maurice Ravel's orchestral works has been highly praised in his engagements with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, the Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse and many others.
Quentin Hindley, who is passionately interested in the music of our time, maintains a lively exchange with composers such as Tristan Murail, Bruno Mantovani, Camille Pépin and Hugues Dufourt. He conducted, among other things, Jonathan Dove's opera The Monster in the Maze in the production of Marie-Ève Signeyrole at the Opéra de Lille, the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon and the Philharmonie de Paris. He is heavily involved in social and intercultural projects and has been associate conductor of the Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée at the Festival d’ Aix-en-Provence for nine seasons.
He recently conducted the gala concerts of Pene Pati, Amitai Pati, Golda Schultz and Pretty Yende at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. He also led the orchestra Les Frivolités Parisiennes for the concert “L’Olympia Symphonique” at the Festival de Paris, whose soloists included the South African soprano Pumeza Matshikiza.
