Roxana Constantinescu was born in Bucharest, began her career as a soloist in the ensemble of the Vienna State Opera and was able to establish herself as one of the leading artists, with an extensive repertoire both in the concert hall and on the opera stage.

Recent engagements include roles such as Adalgisa in Vincenzo Bellini's Norma, Antonín Dvořák's Stabat Mater with the Dresden Philharmonic, Ludwig van Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Orquestra Gulbenkian, Gustav Mahler's Second Symphony with the Bucharest Radio Orchestra and recitals in Paris and Vienna. With the Dresden Philharmonic under Marek Janowski she sang in Richard Wagner's The Ring of the Nibelung, in Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana and in Giacomo Puccini's Il tabarro.

In 2021 she made her debut at the Opéra de Paris as Bradamante in George Frideric Handel's Alcina and embodied the title role in Antonio Vivaldi's Juditha triumphans at the Greek National Opera, a production broadcast worldwide by Mezzo TV. She has appeared as alto soloist in Gioachino Rossini's Stabat Mater at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and in Beethoven's Missa Solemnis at the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, as well as in concerts with the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart under Hans-Christoph Rademann at Walt Disney Hall, Princeton and Fort Lauderdale. Under the direction of Helmuth Rilling she sang repeatedly in the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Liederhalle Stuttgart, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the Bach Oregon Festival.

Engagements in various roles have taken her to, among others, the Zurich Opera House, the Teatro la Fenice, the Israeli Opera, the Opéra Royal du Château de Versailles and the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the New National Theater Tokyo, the LA Opera, the Theater an der Wien, the Ópera de Oviedo and the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse.

Roxana Constantinescu has worked with some of the most important conductors, including Seiji Ozawa, Pierre Boulez, Riccardo Muti, Fabio Luisi, Helmuth Rilling, Gustavo Dudamel, Kirill Petrenko, Marek Janowski, Sir Neville Marriner, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Cristian Măcelaru, Bertrand de Billy, Franz Welser-Möst, Manfred Honeck, Masaaki Suzuki and Riccardo Frizza. She sang as a soloist with renowned orchestras such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Munich Philharmonic, the Dresden Philharmonic, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the WDR Symphony Orchestra, the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, the SWR Radio Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart, the Bach Collegium Stuttgart and the Bach Collegium Japan.

As an experienced song interpreter, she gave song recitals in New York's Carnegie Hall, London's Wigmore Hall, the Musikverein Vienna, the Abbaye de Lessay, the Théâtre du Ranelagh in Paris and the Palais Eschenbach in Vienna, among others. Roxana Constantinescu has contributed to numerous recordings; her recording of Igor Stravinsky's Pulcinella conducted by Pierre Boulez was nominated for a Grammy.
