How's the weather looking?
The performances at St. Margarethen Quarry are held outdoors. The performances may also take place in unfavourable weather conditions. We therefore recommend that our guests wear rainproof, warm clothing and sturdy shoes if the forecast calls for bad weather. Cancellations can be made at the start of a performance at the earliest and can only be made by festival management present on site. The festival management reserves the right to postpone the start of the performance or to interrupt the performance due to weather conditions. If a performance is cancelled by the organiser before a playing time of 45 minutes has been reached, tickets can be returned to the advance booking offices where they were purchased. The organiser will refund the ticket cost excluding postage or other expenses. For organisational reasons, refunds cannot be made directly at the box office or ticket office.
Please note that the unique geographical location of St. Margarethen Quarry means that the weather conditions on site can vary greatly from those in the surrounding area. If you do not attend because of weather concerns, but the performance takes place, you will not be entitled to a refund or return of your tickets.
What clothing is suitable?
In general, there are no dress code regulations. However, please note that the performances take place outdoors and may also take place in bad weather. We therefore recommend warm, rainproof clothing and sturdy shoes. Temperatures can drop at night, even on balmy Burgenland summer evenings. Some visitors therefore also bring light blankets along.
Where can I stay overnight?

Around the quarry
Here in Burgenland’s most traditional wine region, set in the open landscape between the Leithagebirge hills and Lake Neusiedl, the visitor will be enchanted by the natural beauties of the Rust Hills. It is easy to appreciate why the region Fertő–Neusiedler See is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Lake Neusiedl region
“The sunny side of Austria” is how the country’s easternmost province Burgenland is known, a region that radiates Pannonian charm. You will be swept away by the beautiful landscape, fauna and flora, wonderful wines, outstanding cuisine, and much more besides.
This region surrounding Central Europe’s largest steppe lake also boasts impressive palaces and castles. Concerts and exhibitions at Esterházy Palace in Eisenstadt or an excursion to Forchtenstein Castle are just some of the many opportunities that Burgenland has to offer.
The events in the Lake Neusiedl region reflect a similar variety: From opera and classical music to rock festivals there is a wide range of cultural highlights.
